An adventure tour offering a taste of the abundance of the ancient nature, culture, and harmony of the Ryukyu region
Okinawa’s history and culture differ from mainland Japan's. Since ancient times, its people have made the most of nature and lived in harmony with it. For 450 years, the Ryukyu Kingdom, an island nation, maintained peace and prosperity by trading with its neighbors, including Japan, without hostility. At the end of the Pacific War, Okinawa was the site of Japan's only ground battle, the Battle of Okinawa. After Japan’s defeat, it was placed under U.S. administration, which remained until just 50 years ago, and many dedicated U.S. military facilities still exist there. Due to these differences in historical background and natural environment, many cultures and customs quite different from mainland Japan have taken root in Okinawa, and have been passed down to the present day.
In this trip, participants will experience the Okinawan way of life in harmony with nature and other cultures, and the yuimaru spirit (spirit of community) of the islanders living in the modern age.
By experiencing not only Okinawa’s natural beauty, but also its various connections to traditional culture, food, and humanity that have existed there since ancient times,
this journey will touch on the origin of Japan's "abundance" and will explore its "spiritual abundance," which has been in worldwide demand in recent years.
Visit the place where world-famous filmmaker Yasujiro Ozu created his heart and get in touch with the spirit of Japan and family OZU TRIP ～TATESHINA STORY～
World-renowned film director Yasujiro Ozu produced numerous works, including Tokyo Story, a film about familial love. The British Film Institute publication Sight & Sound Magazine ranked Tokyo Story fourth in its 2022 list of the 100 greatest films of all time. Many of Ozu's films have been screened at international film festivals such as Cannes and Venice. This tour allows participants to spend special time at Mugeiso, the cottage in Tateshina, Chino City, Nagano Prefecture, where Ozu spent much time with screenwriter Kogo Noda as both a workplace and a place to entertain people in the movie industry. Enjoy Japanese sake and side dishes much loved by Ozu at OZU BAR while seated around a traditional irori hearth. Creators can also use the cottage as a studio for creative activities.
In addition to the exclusive tour, guided tours are also available for two days and one night to fully experience Tateshina, the area where Ozu and Noda spent their time, including stories of Ozu's life as told by his relatives at Mugeiso, a lecture at Shin Unko So where scenes written in Kogo Noda's own handwriting are on display, and a walk along the Ozu Promenade. In addition, custom-made tours can be tailored to each group, including visits to filming locations for creators to spark inspiration.

This tour offers an unprecedented chance to see the national treasures in Sakurai City. Special content has been created through collaboration between local companies with a love of the region and shrines and temples that house national treasures and important cultural properties. In particular, the tour is packed with Japanese history and culture that has been passed down since ancient times, offering a cultural experience like no other. Sakurai City, where this project is located, is an area with a history that predates the temples and shrines in Nara City, and there is a history that has been preserved by the local people, such as the roots of the Imperial family of Japan. This allows visitors to indulge in a virtually unknown side of Japan that even Japanese people know little about.

A G7 Summit experience where participants can feel like a G7 leader and experience a scenic excursion to the Ise-Shima National Park where they can enjoy the culture and traditional performing arts of ama divers.
Shima City is one of only four locations in Japan to have hosted a G7 summit, and this year the city hosted the G7 Transport Ministers' Meeting in Ise-Shima. The city is known for its beautiful natural environment and was the reason it was selected to host the previous event. The entire city is designated as Ise-Shima National Park, and it is known throughout Japan as a place where nature and people coexist in beautiful harmony. Shima is known as a miketsukuni, one of three regions that have made offerings of regional foods to the Imperial family and the Imperial Court since ancient times. The region is deeply rooted in various traditional food cultures, including that of ama diversregion. The special G7 summit experience makes the most of these valuable resources unique to Shima, including: a dinner menu inspired by the summit at the facility where the summit was held; a tour of the memorial museum exhibiting the round tables and chairs used at the summit; and a guided tour of the observation deck overlooking Kashikojima, where the summit was held. The program will also offer a scenic excursion that includes an exquisite lunch prepared by working ama divers in a special zone of the national park, where visitors can try out ingredients local to Shima. There will also be a special performance of a traditional puppet show, designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.
